Agenda: Practice Swims - Nov. 3rd, 4th & 5th, 2021

Practice Swim at Barbados Open Water Festival - Carlisle Bay
Wed. Nov. 3th - Practice Swim #1 - Carlisle Bay 
2K Open Water Swim in Carlisle Bay, similar route to weekend Swim races on 10th & 11th. Guests will gather at Copacabana Beach Bar at 4pm for welcome briefing. Guided Swim will start at 4.30pm. After the swim, all swimmers are invited to stick around for Happy Hour at Copa (5:30 to 6:30 pm) and dinner. (BBQ Buffet US$25)  E-mail info@swimbarbadosvacations.com to reserve a Buffet for yourself.

Thur. Nov. 4th - Practice Swim #2 - Port St Charles
2K Open Water Swim along the "platinum" West Coast from the exclusive Port St. Charles Yacht Club. Guests will gather at the picturesque Port St. Charles Yacht Club for a 4pm briefing, Guided Swim will start at 4.30pm. After the swim, guests are invited to relax and enjoy the scenery from the Port St. Charles Yacht Club. Happy Hour on drinks from 5.30pm-6.30pm & Island Buffet US$25 from 6pm. Miami Beach - Practice swim 3 - Barbados Open Water Festival
​Friday Nov. 5th - Practice Swim #3 - "Miami Beach"
2K Open Water Swim on the South Coast. Guests will gather at Miami Beach for 4pm briefing, Guided Swim will start at 4.30pm. After the swim guests are invited to join us at the Oistins Fish Fry which is only a short walk from Miami Beach.
​Drinks & Dinner at your own leisure.

All practice swims will be held close to shore in safe conditions, with Paddle boarders and Kayakers escorting Swimmers. Paramedics will be on site in case of any emergencies. 

​We will provide chartered buses for transportation on the Thursday & Friday Guided swims for US$18 & $14 respectively per person return included. The Chartered buses will depart & return to the Hasting Rocks Promenade on the South Coast Boardwalk, this is a very central location on the South Coast Main Rd. Sign up for the transport when entering online.  All registered participants will be notified of transportation details as well as food and drink options by email closer to event.

Agenda: Open Water Races Nov. 6th & 7th, 2021

Barbados Open Water Festival race start 2017
Strong finish in 2017 10K marathon swim in Barbados
Saturday Nov. 6th: 1.5K Swim
​7.00 am to 8:20am: Registration & Check in for the 1.5K Swims
​
All swimmers entered in the 1.5K Swim race are invited to check-in at Copacabana Beach Bar between 7.00am and 8:20 am.  At check-in swim caps & ankle bracelets with time chip will be issued and then number marked on arm and leg. No new entries will be accepted for the timed 1.5K race on race day. Entry will still be available for the Charity Fun Swim (1.5K - untimed).

8.30am: Race Briefing on the Beach.
​9am: Race Start for 1.5K & 1.5K ‘Just for Fun’ Swim

Sunday Nov. 7th: 3.3K, 5K, 10K Swims
6.15am: Registration & Check in for the 10K Swim only.
​6.45am: Race Briefing for 10k Swim only
​7am: 
Race Start for the 10km Swim only
Six laps (1.67k each) in Carlisle Bay. No new entries will be accepted on race day.

7.15am to 8:15am: Registration & Check in for the 3.3K and 5K Swim Races (2 events). No new entries accepted on race day.  
  • 8.30am: Race Briefing on the Beach
  • 9am: Race Start for the 3.3K Swim Race
  • 9.02am: Race Start for the 5K Swim Race
3.3K - 2 laps (1.67k each lap).  
​5K - 3 laps. 
​
​10K Swimmers - please note that Swimmers in the 3.3K and 5K Races will be joining you on the same Swim course at the 9am and 9.02am start times for those races. By this time the 10K field should be well spread out and so there it should not present a challenge for any of the swimmers in either race.

Presentation of prizes and awards for the 3.33k, 5k & 10k swims will take place at approx. 11.30am.

Food, DJ, music, drinks and loads of fun for the whole family November 10th-11th at the Copacabana Beach Bar in Carlisle Bay, the home of the Barbados Open Water Festival. The Open Water Festival welcomes Swimmers of all ages and skill levels from Recreational to Elite. The 2020 event will be the 9th BOWF. The course is surveyed by a land surveyor to ensure an accurate distance.  Safety is the number one priority at BOWF. The course is patrolled by many volunteers on Stand Up Paddle Boards and in Kayaks as well as 2-3 motor boats (Barbados Coast Guard/Police boats).  Life Guards are on hand as well as a medical team (Two medical doctors plus an ambulance on site). Racers will compete for fantastic prizes including Airline tickets, Hotel stays, Dinners at Fine Dining Restaurants and much more.
